Take a look at the wheels reels striper showdown results - surf tournament held from oregon inlet south. 250+ anglers/decent weather - 4 fish weighed in all in the low 20's. No fish on the shoals. Menhaden trawlers everywhere. The striper runs for the outer banks are done imo.

Stripers and big blues are non-existent. Specks and puppy drum are everywhere and finding the holes isn't a problem. Drive the beach road until you see an access site that's full of vehicles, that's where the fishermen are. Or, just park at an access site and look up and down the beach. You'll spot 'em. It's not rocket science.

The REALLY hard part is finding a hole that hasn't already been found ;-)

Was up in Carova the last couple of days and there was nothing happening up there, not the first bite. The dory boat netting season opened up Monday also. Watched a few nets get pulled in and all I saw was a handfull of dogsharks and a stray drum, which was released.
