They are still up in the New England area, holding really strong in the RI area as well as new york. I hope they show up down there this year as it will be my first winter in the OBX. '

I live in NH (for the next 24 hrs) and we had a bad year up here. There has been an abundance of almost every kind of bait and the bass didn't really need to move pass the cape. RI and the Cape seem to have had excellent years from what I gather. Just pray the bait settles where you want to fish during their fall/winter migration.

There were some really nice bass in the mix this year. I don't carry a camera or keep many fish, so when this one got gill hooked it came home for a photo and dinner date. The fishing was spotty in Northern New England but when we found em they were quite a bit bigger than this.

yeah, it was just a lil joke!

Seriously, striper fishing has not been that productive the past several years. It seems most of the stripes are staying further north, near the VA/NC line, with a few being caught near the Inlet.

Hopefully we'll start to see stripes in good numbers around the mid-November timeframe with increasing numbers through December, January, and February.

You can still catch schoolie stripes year-round at Mann's Harbour but that's hit or miss as well.

Good luck!

brianbutler10 -

I noticed that you're located in Warrenton, VA. Our fly fishing club is located just down the road in Culpeper. We're a fairly new club and have close to 100 members. We meet monthly and organize fishing trips each month to local and more remote destinations.

stop on by at one of of club meetings in downtown culpeper. You can google Eastern Blue Ridge Fly Fishers for more info.

I know that neither the strippers or the stripers are going to be there, but "I'm" going to be in / on Ocracoke all next week. If you see a Silver Chevy Colorado, with a NCBBA plate on the front, please feel free to come up and say "Hi".

If you see my truck at Howard's Pub, I'll be the old redneck with a scraggly ponytail sitting at the bar sucking down oysters.
