I have US Celluar, I have good coverage in the entire Eastern NC. Other might say verizon. They have a couple of carriers there. I have very few dropped calls out in the boondocks of NC with US Celluar

I use AT+T because the price for a similar plan would double if I switched carriers. With that said, I have no reception on ocracoke (a place I spend a fair amout of time in the spring) and service is shaky through parts of southern shores and pea island. Everwhere else it is pretty good.

I have Verizon here in Morehead/Beaufort area. Haven't found a place yet that I did not get service...except out in Merriman for about a four hundred yard stretch of road. A SECRET my wife leveraged out of a representative is a code number of some sort....she dials a certain number....then enters a code....which allows us to bounce off all cellular towers regardless of the provider....at no additional charge. Seems it's a trade secret because Verizon has to pay fees based on usage or something like that. We changed phone models and had to get a new number, so I would deduce that it's geared for each phone model. So with that, I never lose service except for small patches where nothing works...which is very very rare.

Verizon has given me no problems from Corolla to Ocracoke.

Don't renew the Nextel. I've heard it's shaky on the banks.

I am in the Swansboro are and use AllTel now for about 5 years. Use it from D.C to Tampa. Give it an A- On occasion for 3-4 days about 4 times a year we get a weak signal. There are places of course in NC like in southwest Pender Co./Bladen Co. without signal for a 10 mile or so stretch. Have it other dead zones in Hyde, Dare, Pasqotank areas. Would be hard to imagine a better service for the money than I have.

I use Verizon...once a month dial *228 and follow the prompts ... dial 1 to program your phone and then dial 2 to update your roaming ... this keeps your Verizon service up to date.
