Nope,Thats prime time.Just cast around the marsh on a high tide right close to the bank and you should do fine. They ought to be good size too.

I've never cast for shrimp before so do I cast on the sound side near the museum or are there restricted areas? any good spots that you know of and are there any limits...just need a few.

100 shrimp per person per day for NC (in Closed waters). I have yet to find open waters around Hatteras.

charlieboy,

I was down there the last week of August and had great success netting shrimp. I must have ended up with about 20lbs in less than two hours. Just cruise along the reeds and see what happens. I first found them bank fishing and my trolling motor spooked and bunch of em up and it was a free for all from there out.

Closed waters are areas that are not open to shell fishing. Here is the link to NC Division of Marine Fisheries. Look up closed waters and the map. It is a good source for anyone coming down to NC

No. There are closed areas for shrimping (that means 100 shrimp) per person other area are open to shrimping (no limit). I have yet to find an area that is open to shrimping so the best thing to do is to stick to the 100 shrimp limit.

It does, Check with Marine Fisheries guys to see if they have a map of the closed area. I had one online last year and have lost the link. There should be some shrimp at Virgina Creek.
