Water is hot, fish early. I have not heard of much but I'm sure there are some red drum hanging around. Specks in the sound and flatties are in the inlet

I've seen some reds tailing in the sound but they wouldn't bite. I yaked out the other day and there were all kinds of blues around. I cought the biggest lady fish I have ever cought, some where around 22". Keep in mind I was out in the yak and about 200 yards or so off the the shore at the closest point.

Yes the water is hot avg around 82 or 83.

As said above fish early.

I haven't fished the ocean in a few weeks, but have had some luck lately in the marshes and oyster beds in the beaufort/morehead city area... I'd guess the marshes around Emerald Isle or down by Swansboro would be producing too.

Pinfish are everywhere right now though.. i think i donate about $12 of Gulp to the little bastards on every trip.

Bitters are all around. Heard some better ones have been hooked up recently. I enjoy bring them in and hearing the beach walkers say that they had been swimming there earlier in the day.

Ironically....just got the word on a good flounder bite around the docks in Morehead/Beaufort....(which docks would qualify as a closely guarded secret). I will be on the water tonight 10pm-3am....giggling....if the weather holds.

So did you mean "gigging", or do you giggle when you fish for flounder?? (the second one is funnier to picture)

The redfishing is on FIRE in EI right now. Fish are fat, happy, and dumb... fish shallow and fish quiet.

Default Slow Emer. Isle

I was out there the last 2 mornings. A couple of small Spanish--that's about it. It has been slow all summer.
