Default Shark Fishing North Myrtle Beach 8/17-8/24

Since there is no real forum for Myrtle Beach area I figured i'd post in the closest spot.

I will be sporting a Penn Senator 113/Penn 6.5ft fight rod. Not sure what line ill be using as it is still about 3 weeks out from my trip.

I will be about a mile south of Cherry Grove Pier. Any tips on fishing the beach here, as I have not yet tried fishing myrtle beach.

Any tips on line # and set-up would be greatly appreciated.

Be careful on where you shark fish. I believe it is illegal in Horry County.

I am down in the same area a week ahead of you. I had no idea there might be a shark fishing restriction maybe it is just during the day light hours when swimmers are around. I have seen those type of restriction elsewhere.

i think shark fishing is illegal period. eventhough the owrld record tiger shark was caught off cheery grove pier in 1969(i think) by walter maxwell(landed the NC record tiger shark too, pier caught) on 130 ib test line on a penn senator 16/0 with a 12/0 hook and a stingray (i think). it was wieghed at a truck stop the next day at 1780 pounds. he lost a bigger shark the day before
