Mike Murray (via Cyndy Holda) reports the following:
Cape Point - Tomorrow morning (7/22/08) ORV access will be open to the South end of the bypass. One pair of AMOYS w/ 1 chick still remains. The chick is flying but not considered a strong flyer. Beyond the bypass, the beach will be OPEN TO PEDESTRIANS all the way to The Point. In 7-10 days, the remaining chick should be strong flying and ORV access should be open to The Point. There are turtle nests in the area, but we should be able to work around the back side of current turtle nests (at least 6 nests S. of 44) at this time. Turtles are still crawling up on the beaches nightly. Ramp 34 - Least tern colonies with unfledged chicks on the ground still mandate this closure.
