Default HR 6257 - Reinstatement of the Assault Weapons Ban

On June 12th, 2008, several congressmen (all republicans, no less) sponsored HR 6257 which is the reinstatement of the Assault Weapons Ban. Please read the bill text and contact these folks with your thoughts.

Please keep your comments respectful, if for no other reason than to reinforce the point that gun people are responsible people.

Thank you.

What is it we these A$$ Clowns? They just don't give up even when the facts point to a total irrelevance to adopting this type of ban. So now they need another study to determine that criminals are not going to pay any attention to a ban and that banning law abiding ownership will ultimately have zero impact on crime rates? Idiots.

I just contacted my M00nbat reps very cordially and asked very nicely that they consider the past failures of " gun control " before voting on this. I also reminded them of how I will vote come election day if they choose to vote yea.

In dealing with these idiot types over the last year, I've learned they care nothing about reason. They understand two things....votes and money. Bribe them or vote them out of office and let them know why.

I've asked this numerous times. Someone said it and for some odd reason it caught on. The earliest I can remember hearing it is in the movie Office Space, towards Michael Bolton. I could see how anything deragotory towards him would stick but the word just doesnt make any sense.

Interesting. Republicans bowing down to democratic ideals...........should we read more into this? Is this a consolation prize for the Heller flip or perhaps they have a crystal ball to the future of the presidency?

All-in-all it stinks of hijinks.

I posted this in the tavern so that it wouldn't be shredded in the PG forum like all the other gun posts have. This post was meant as only a heads-up to those not familiar with this bill and not a debate, per se.

If you don't have anything to contribute, leave it alone.

Maybe the help of the Urban Dictionary will assist

1. Ass clown
ass clown (ás kloun) n.:
one, who, through the fault of his parents conception, is a skid mark in society's collective underwear.
Phat Pat is ASS CLOWN.

. 2. Ass clown
A prick, who is at the same time a jackass.
That ass clown walked in 30 minutes late, and still didn't get in trouble.

3. Ass clown
A person who knows absolutely nothing about his job or trade but can tell everyone else how to do it better!!
My General foreman is a real ass clown,he couldn't wire a ****ing hefty bag closed but he can tell me I'm not moving fast enough.

Firearms ban+assault on the Constitution!
If I read this correctly, my single shot .223 is an assault rifle?
I guess I have to throw rocks at the target at the range?

The best defense is to write a respectful letter to your state congressmen/women and to the sponsors of this bill stating your views.

I believe if they had the facts since 2004 when the old bill expired, they would see the fallacy in the new one.

I don't believe these politicians are even listening to their constituents these days.

What say you?
