Question Manteo Area Fishing

I have never fished the sound around Manteo. What can I expect kayak fishing in and around the bridge and sound between Nags Head and Manteo? Help please.

there are plenty of places that you can go around there to catch fish, but i would sugest the little bridge (Melvin R. Daniels Bridge) south side if your out there on the right days and useing the right bait (lures) you'll see a lot of action.

pm me for more.

I will be down there in early August. I know the fishing is slow, but I am taking my boat anyway. Any suggestions for fishing from a boat? I have fished at the Oregon Inlet in July and caught some blues and a few red drum. I was wondering about the around the causeway bridge and anywhere in the Sound.

thanks for your help

(not too sure about this, cause i haven't fished OI in a while), but there's a jetty on the south sound side (look for boats & people standing on the jetty fishing) usually there'll be people fishing for spot (and what ever else is there). as for the "causeway bridge" are you talking about the bridge from manteo to nagshead? if so work all the pilings with either a live mullet/killie or bucktail, there'll probly be some flounder hanging around (also try in front of the cannal by the crab place on the nagshead side of the bridge).

well boys just got back from manteo, we got blown out of our offshore trips but we made the best of it fishing from the bridge, all i have to say is wow there are so many damn fish down there its silly. Me and my boy fished the bridge from 7 am to 11 pm and we had non stop action all day, we must have caught 75 puppy drums and 25 blacks drums along with a few stripers and blues, few pinfish and spots mixed in. I started off using soft plastics but noticed the fish were manily caught on crab so we got some crabs and it was non stop. I cant beleave how stacked the fish were. awsome time and all of the people there are great people. will be coming down a few times a year from here on out.
