Save Hatteras is alive and well. They had no Idea the size of the ball they volunteered to catch was.
Jim, Monies are certainly going CHAPA. That hasn’t changed since the inception of donations on www.savehatteras.com. We have been in contact with John Couch and Jim Keene on a regular basis on this issue. We will say that we did not expect the response to the website when we put it out there. 1,500,000 hits and over 20,000 PleaCasts in the first eight weeks! We were knocked over by hundreds of phones call and emails. Juggling a 60+hr a work week and the responsibility to the public from the website was overload for two people. After defamatory posts on our own forum and others about “Where’s The Money,” we decided to take down the website in efforts to remove the controversy altogether, and stop the defamatory circulation of ideas. This was a disheartening decision, but spending long weeks fighting for the livelihoods of others at the expense of our own, is not what we had in mind. CHAPA,OBPA, and the NCBBA understand until I have my articles on incorporation set up (currently in the hands of the attorneys), I cannot set up a checking account (under non-profit). Until a checking account is set up, I cannot transfer funds from PayPal. I am surprised that anyone would remotely think that respected professionals of this area would be taking funds from this cause for themselves. Again, until we are set up, no monies can get moved. Please pass it along to anyone that may have questions. Also, let people know that questions are important, but opinions without facts will be a dangerous liability to this cause moving forward. Looking back, I guess we should have posted more info about this. Unfortunately time has been a premium recently…we can only give so much. We had just expected that if people had questions they would call…most did. And we thank you for that Jim! Thank you for voicing your concerns. Contact us anytime.
