Wanted to know if someone could give me a few tips. Going down to obx next week and have picked up a 8' and 9' to rig up for flounder. I have used the fish finder with a disc weight and some strips of bunker with little success. Would it be more effective to strip of some bunker and bait to a flounder bucktail? I thnk i have done that before too but my logic on where flounder would be (now i believe more knee to waist high before the breakers) was off. Rarely are there any live eels to be had so I'm thinking that's probably out of the question. In the last couple of years, however, i'm seen some doormats pulled out of hatteras inlet and south beach (which will probably be closed when we get down there). Anything would probably be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I prefer minnows on the fishfinder rig for flounder...with the minimum weight necessary to get the job done. Mullet minnows or mud minnows. I like to work the surf area with a super slow retrieve, move it a couple feet, let it sit for a minute or two, then move it again. I also use gulp shrimp or rubber on jigs, but keep a constant slow bounce to my lure. They can be very aggresive as you know...anything that looks fishy will be attacked if it's within their 'zone'. Good luck.
