Default Dear Mr. Murray

[ cut n paste of my email ]

Dear Mr. Murray -

Thanks for losing the majority of my beach access, as predicted, via the bogus “settlement” made under duress.

Public park? I think not any more. The National Park Service, is merely another non-profit division of the Audobon Legal society.

I do not consider you suitable to be a steward of my national parks.

Hopefully there will be sweeping pay cuts for you and your organization as there won’t be much to do – certainly not enough to justify your current salary.

Not my settlement,

Steve Coleman

C'mon guys,

He's been painted into a corner by the in-actions of those that came before him, years ago. I was there in the court today, and I really think that he and the NPS are now trying to resolve this as best they can.

Though I'm not happy at all with the consent decree, let's see how they handle it before we get too P.O.'d. This sure beats chaining off the ramps, which is what a closure injunction would have done. That would have meant NO access.

So chill a little, and give them a chance to make it work.

sorry , but , imho ..
mr murry was sent here on a mission ..
that being to get this matter settled one way or the other .
he was in on the reg-neg at cape cod .. and that is a total mess there .
so he has the experience with reg-neg at a seashore
he was here before so he has some connections on both sides ..
granted he walked into a mess , but to paraphrase him ... there will be a settlement and neither side will be happy !
probally the 'best' man for the job ..
personally , the beaches are gone !
it will never be as it once was !!
the rest of the national seashore parks are next !!

You may be right Derf,

I've often not liked the music, but I've never shot the piano player.

At least not yet.

Steve I know you feel bad about this but a half a loaf is better than no loaf. Murray came in the middle of this thing after that other fool was sent packing.
Derf DOW seems to be going after other fish at this time, but as to what is worked out I realy feel that the realestate developers are your bigger threat.

Steve -

I understand your sentiments.

That letter, in my view, would be addressed much more appropriately to the Assistant Secretary of Interior for National Parks, and copied to the Secretary of Interior.

I am genuinely puzzled, my friend, at the venom for Mr. Murray.

chris I think Mr Murray is the "point man" in all this. rightly or wrongly he will be the scape goat to those on our side who are very unhappy with the agreement. I hate to get on my libertarian soap box again, but when you trust in govt this what you get.

I assume the no access form 10pm to 6am is now the rule? Personally thats the one rule that will keep me away more than any other. I can deal (unhappily) with various closures of the point etc, but the no acess from 10pm to 6am is a real deal breaker.

Chris

Mr. Murray is in charge like it or not and bears responsibility for his park.

And yes I have venom. I've been going there all my life. I love that place.

I feel like a friend just died.

Fire the lot of them.

Again, guys, I understand. [and feel the same]

Just my humble view that the real fault for the current turn of events lies further up the chain of command.

I agree with you, CS. I think that Mike Murray has been dealt a bad hand, and he's just trying to play it as best he can. For what it's worth, I think that he did an admirable job in court on Wednesday. He was professional, courteous, and stood up well under immense pressure. I'd never met the man before, but was impressed with his presence in court.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in his shoes. He can't even tie his shoes now without someone watching over his shoulder.

So, let's let him get his shoes back on, and give him a chance to play his cards.

If we don't like his game later, I'll be one of the first to jump on him. But for now, he needs some elbow room. Let's give him a chance to do what he can for us before we condem him.

That's my opinion.

Default Reg/Neg

The first thing that should be established is the base point. That requires going back to 1971 when all the beaches were open. This re-establishes everything from ground zero for the Reg/Neg. Our base point IS NOT the limited access we have open now.

This means we want Pea Island back as well.

Murry has been brought in to do a job. Where I don't hold him responsible, he is an interim peace keeper and has experience in the Reg/Neg process. No one will be happy with the outcome in 3 years and afterwards you will see him transfered to another place.

A class action law suit is the way to go against the NPS/DOI.
