I'm going to be in Holden Beach, NC during the middle of July and was wondering if I could get some surf fishing tips. We usually just bottom fish with a rig and some squid for bait. That doesn't produce a lot of catching, just a bunch of re-baiting. Can someone give me some ideas?
If you know a good forum for this question please pass it along.

Go with smaller hooks and fake bloodworms. This will usually catch you something. Small hooks can always catch big fish but not always vice versa (a size 6 hook for a spot can also catch a rockfish... whereas a big 8/0 hook for rockfish cannot always catch a spot). Also, throw some mullet on medium sized hooks or mullet rigs into your smorgasborg of baits.
