Question How can you tell what is Open

Is there any way to tell what beaches are open or closed before i drive
5 1/2 hours and find out the hard way?? I have put my OBX plans on hold because i dont know if i can fish or not?? Does the park service have a website or do i just go by what i read on the fishing sites???

The NPS posts the latest access reports here:

http://www.nps.gov/caha/parknews/newsreleases.htm

Scroll down the page.

But as crazy as things are there's no guarantee. Be very careful down there, trespass into a closed area will result in the area's dimensions being increased. It totally sucks.

Closures are changing daily. I went over OI bridge sat afternoon heading south to ocracoke and returned sunday afternoon - N side OI access changed dramatically. Same thing happened between ramp 43 and 44 sunday. Complete BS.
