if they allow pin rigging... I dont believe that is known yet. it will be run by the state. they are already not allowing alcohol, which I dont mind. if anything I think thats good to get rid of the drunks. Im sure they wont allow sharking either. I am very happy about them rebuilding it, jennettes is where fished when we came down when I was little. I saw them pull up some big sharks there.

yea i agree with you on the sharking, but hopfuly they'll let pin rigging go. and if you use a 9/0 for a fighting reel, just bring out a diff. rod at night and send out a bait. no one will know

TO FISH! I myself dont drink. I dont mind other people drinking a little but I dont like it when people get drunk and get annoying, causing problems and stuff. seth, do you remember last year those guys on the end that were drunk and causing problems and the cops came and tackled one of them into the avalon sign in the parking lot and tasered the other one. the cop told me that he pissed and crapped his pants. there are other piers that are "family oriented" or whatever that dont let you pin rig. I could understand the not allowing sharking by the management, but I like to do it and dont see anything wrong with it.

i dont care about the drinking. but idk why they wouldent let you shark or pin rig. i was told once that the drum didnt really show up there, is that true?

I would like them to have pin rigging but it will be a state run pier and the rules would be up to them. there are some piers further south that dont allow pin rigging and are supposed to be "family oriented". I dont know about the drum. Im sure it is just that no one fishes for them there. I mean, they have to swim past it and I dont think they swim offshore aound it just to avoid it. it might have something to do with structure.

i fished Jennette's back in the 70s and 80s. We would move from Kitty Hawk on southwesters for king fishing. Kings bit better there on a southwester than on Kitty Hawk. Never saw many reds caught there but then again we did not catch many on Kitty Hawk-- i mean we went years with out caching any. Seems like the last 10 years there are catching more on Avalon and Kitty Hawk.

Summer of 74 the first cobia (63 lbs) was caught on KH pier and most of us kind of knew what one was but we had never seen one. Good years we would catch a handful. In Late 70s and early 80s late May and the first week of June we would get clobbered by big amberjacks--pier record was in mid 70s.

Glad they are building back the pier--great place to grow---i sure miss the planks

Yeap,it's gone... Didn't fish Kitty Hawk as much as Brian, but caught some nice fish there, and met many a friend there, including Brian.. But with the rebuild of Jennettes it could be even better.. Especially with the length they are going to build it..

I remember Jennettes with some fond memories.. Had my best day ever on that pier,7 kings over 20lbs,and one 40lb drum all on floatrigs... Had quite a few days out there that I caught kings and saw many big sharks caught there as well...

As far as drum, with the length of that pier, and the sandbars that should get created near the end, imho, there's gonna be drum a plenty....

I'm very optomistic about this pier, seems to be the only good thing involving the access to fishing that is going on....
