...and they are even entitled to recover legal costs from the federal defendants, meaning the NPS - which is ultimately US, the taxpayers! So, we pay to get shafted!!! I cannot believe that Mr. Couch and the other "stake holders" agreed to this travesty in the back rooms.

I am disappointed in the settlement...as others said it will never be the same... Just slivers of beach left to fish in what was the BEST SURF FISHING IN THE COUNTRY!

HI and Ocoke are now being managed as a bird sanctuary By a handful of laywers. Is this the Americian Way? I don't think so.Every person that fishes on beaches any where.It is time to make a statement.Dig deep send a few bucks to OBPA the folks down there have a long row to hoe.I usually spend three weeks on HI.But I must stay away to avoid going to jail. As far as Mr. Couch I would not judge him on this.I feel he had to settle for this or completly closed.It is going to be bad enough for buisneses totaly closed would of really put the hurt on.

FWIW, on the federal side, this was addressed and signed off on much, much higher up in the DOI hierarchy than Mike Murray.

To his credit, at the outset of this lawsuit, Mike Murray submitted a painstakingly detailed memo to the judge outlining how the interim plan was being implemented. Best anyone can tell, the Judge summarily ignored it.

And, I would encourage reserving judgment on the beach access defendants without knowing what was on the table when this was agreed to.

2. DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE PUT OUT A PRESS RELEASE ON THEIR WEBSITE TELLING US HOW GREAT THE SETTLEMENT WAS.

3. NO WHERE IN ANY DOCUMENTS RELEASED ARE THE SETTLEMENT THAT WAS READY TO BE PRESENTED TO JUDGE BOYLE BEFORE THE INTERVENERS WERE ALLOWED TO JOIN NPS AND THE DOW, AS, SELC AT THE NEGOTIATING TABLE.

4. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THESE DOCUMENTS PUT IT THE PUBLICS EYE SO WE THE PEOPLE CAN SEE WHAT WAS ON THE TABLE AND WHAT THE INTERVENERS WERE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE FROM AND TO WHAT WE GOT.

5. ONLY IF THIS IS DONE CAN WE KNOW THAT THE TRUE CHAMPIONS OF THE SETTLEMENT WERE THE INTERVENERS AND NOT THE DOI OR DOW OR AS OR SELC AS THEY DEPICT THEMSELVES TO BE.
