Negotiating the Injunction is unequivocally a “Sellout”.
THIS negotiation is indicative of admitted negligence/guilt and therefore an effort to cut losses; ineffective, bloated bureaucracy at it’s best – i.e. something is better than nothing – cowardly riding the middle of the political fence and I have no respect for cowardice.
After this Injunction scenario is over, the NPS should be sued for mismanagement, negligence, etc., etc., etc.

IMHO,
Roy Allen

I have to agree with you there Roy. Some thing is better than nothing and it gives them more real estate in their corner going into negotiations. In 3 years, these areas will be the status quo and non-negotiable!

On a similar note, I see the new statements from DOW are saying the ORV’s are causing beach erosion... something never stressed in any of their previous statements. It has always been about the birds and now it is erosion and turtles.

It is sad that the NPS is negotiating with these groups instead of going the original route of federal court.

like i thought all along, its not about the birds. there using the birds and POSSIBLE beach erosion as a coverup to elimanate people from actually using the beach for fishing, surfing, etc

The audobon people decided to circumvent the regneg process with the courts. Purely in bad faith imo.

Any attempt to "compromise" or cut a deal with them outside of the existing regneg process should be stopped.

And furthermore they should be removed from all proceedings as a result of their actions.

Thanks Jerkjigger.

I guess I'll keep an eye on the boards as well as WRAL as the day progresses.

2pm. the judge may grant the continuance or may not. I think this is total BS about these negotiations. I keep hearing people say it will be a good thing, that is crap! how could it be good? they want to negotiate with the NPS by themselves, not as a committe so they just go around us right to the park service who by the way does not dispute the suit. keep in mind, you can appeal a judges decision but you can't appeal a settlement so whatever they negotiate we are stuck with rather than the judge making a decision and getting turned over. there are already massive pre nesting closures that the NPS put in place that will only get bigger with negotiations. if the park service does not dispute the injunction, what negotiating power do they have? please fill me in if I am wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this one.

not true. when confronted at one of the reg-neg meetings about the fox incident, and the use of traps such as leg hold traps and snares on the recreation area Jason Rylander from the defenders of wildlife, who happened to be present during the fox shooting had this to say...“We stand for biodiversity,” Rylander told the committee members and others after the public comment session. “And sometimes we have to make difficult choices.” check out the link below to the news article about this.

also if you check out the DOW homepage, somewhere it talks about their purpose being to stop the use of leg hold traps and snares because they are cuel and they ask for donations to help them fight the use of them. hypocrits
