Default Beach Closures

I know there have been lots of posts on this subject, but what's the deal? Are the beaches currently off limits to ORV driving or is that just "talk" of "proposed" rule changes? I am coming in May between this and my Assateague home talking about changes I am having a hard time keeping up with the rumors.

It really doesn't look good for the injunction hearing on Apr. 4. If the judge grants the injunction ALL the good spring drum spots will be closed to buggies 24/7.

As to what recourse pro-access may have if that happens? There is strategy being developed but I have no idea what. The pro-access groups are understandibly holding their cards pretty close to the vest. However it's my guess because of time constraints that if the injunction is granted you can forget about driving to the point this drum season.

Ya unfortunately we're holding off also on our June trip until we see what happens. I hope for those who are trying to earn a living down there that it doesn't happen.

Default OI

What about the drive on areas near Oregon Inlet? Are they in question or just the access zones near the point?

In anticipation of a possible shutdown, I went down there this past Thursday-Sunday. Didn't catch much but doggies and skates but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
I'm hoping the outcome is favorable as I have 2 weeks booked already for June. Paid half already and will wait to see my options after this Friday's Court session. I'm sure others are in the same boat. And to think I was doing myself a favor by booking early so I could get a decent place for 2 weeks straight....

I have a feeling there are lots of people in that same boat, myself included, waiting to see if the results will cancel Spring plans.
