OBX In August??

Hey just a quick ? How bad are the crowds around Buxton during the second week of August?? Realize I have never come down except early spring because of the thought of crowds?? Also coming in from Philly so how bad is traffic getting there esp. around the Bridge/tunnel?? Thanks trying to plan summer vaction.

Plan on both crowds and traffic being bad until after Labor day. Unless there is a hurricane..

is never a problem for me in the Bridge Tunnel area. Leave Philly around 4 a.m. and you will get to OBX around 11/noon.

Its not only the crowds that are bad the friggen heat will beat you down.

The crowds are to be expected, anywhere on the coast during prime season. Just plan on hitting the road at O'Dark-thirty and getting to the VA/NC line before 8, 7 is better. As for the heat, its glorious!! Now, the next question is fishing, the water is warm so the prime fish probably won't be too active. You may luck out with some Spanish, but pompano will definitely be there as well as black drum. Hit the sound for trout or go out on the Miss Hatteras. Good luck!
