Default N.C. Licence Survey

Well it's been a year now since the coastal fishing licence requirement went into effect. Has anyone seen any changes, like less people fishing, less money being spent at buisnesses catering to fishermen, or anything that was accomplished with the "New Revenue", ect....ect.... Now that this process is happening in Delaware for 2008, I sure would like to know what changes to look for in the comming year. Pros and Cons welcome.....

I do not think it has made much difference in the number of people fishing--but it has put the sellers under a hardship. I believe the state pays the sellers about 1.00 per license. It takes way too much time for both the angler and the seller.
We shall see about the rest of the promises.

I believe federals are mandating that every state have a saltwater license by 08 or 09. ANyway that is what i thought i read last year--we shall see

If this is true, I wonder how Maryland will handle it.

From a sellers point of view, it does take excessive time in relationship to return. (5 cents on the dollar) I don't it has stop to many people from fishing, maybe a few of the " I'm down for the day and want to wet a line folks" and they just end up going to one of the few remaining fishing piers that have a "umbrella" licence. There is still a few bugs in the system but all in all it's been recieved okay.
I read and heard the same thing about all coastal states being required to have a licence or the feds were going to step in with a licence.
As far as if the revenue is going to the correct areas, can't really say just yet.

As a "consumer", the main problem I have with it is that for a non-resident license, the term is 10 days or a full year. For folks like me that only go to OBX once a year, the 10 day is sort of silly, and the full year isn't worth it......really, how many folks go to OBX for 10 days?.....it is usually either 7 days or 14 days (the later being my case), since most rental cottages are on a weekly basis......so I end up having to buy two ten day licenses at $10 each......and this past year I forgot on the 11th day when I went out on the beach early in the AM, so I technically made a bunch of casts "illegally"......fortunately, it dawned on me later that morning, and I had to go and waste more of Frank's time to get a new one.

I'd rather see a 14 day license for like $15, even if I were only staying a week.

yeah a 14 day would be great. Last year I did run into alot of people that new nothing bout the new licence for 07. They said they only had a few days left and would take their chances. If it was me I know I would have got caught....
