Neuse River that runs alongside New Bern is a good striper hotspot....not the huge ones you'll encounter on the banks....but good 6-20 pounders are there. March should be pretty good directly off the docks around town. Speckled Trout should be just down river from New Bern a few miles in the creeks...also the stripers hang around the high rise bridge bases as well and there is an artificial reef just below the bridge. If you have boat, it shouldn't be a problem finding either one.

For the Neuse area right there in New Bern, it's 3 fish per day with a minimum length of 18" per person.

Outer Beaches:
By boat-a long way! Probably two hours run to get out an inlet.
By road-take 70 East to Morehead City, then cross over high rise bridge following signs to Atlantic Beach. Also, go through Morehead City into Beaufort only a couple miles difference...small ferry skiffs there that can take you to Shackleford Banks (a barrier island) that is uninhabited except by the other folks who came with you and there are wild ponies there as well. You can fish from the surf there, but not sure what you'd catch in March. I don't fish normally, except offshore, much in Feb/Mar/early April. There are some headboats in Atlantic Beach and Morehead City that'll take you offshore bottom fishing....some sportys as well to take you offshore trolling, but it'll run you around $1400 for the day for the charter (obviously split between ever how many fisherman there are, up to six).

How many people do you have coming....got family here....why NB...etc.?
