Eric placed and came home with some cash in the fishmilitia tourney.
The only ai guy to score. How big was it?? LOL, like I used to tell all the girls, size isn't important. Now I don't know who to get lessons from... Fulton or Eric. Most of the big winning cash came from the walkover at pea island. * wonder why the pea island permits were not passed out to all the participants this year? 'nuff said about that. ANyway we all had fun as usual. Steve |

It was an interesting tournament, my first Striper Showdown, and I must say I am better prepared for next year's tournament as a result. It was a class production from beginning to end, and Tommy Wheeler and company did a great job on things that they could control. The fact that only 12 stripers were caught were caught was another story, but that is determined by the weather. Speaking of which, although not raining, the constant 20+ MPH wind was not making for fun fishing. We had 3 in our group, and it was difficult giving bait away. Baitwaster had fun catching tiny bluefish on a doodlebug and leaving them on out there just in case a big striper wanted a meal, unfortunately there were no takers. The acursed dogfish sharks weren't even that plentiful, and the skates were scarce as well, at least where we were soaking bait....
I am sure that my friend JohnM has caught enough crap already, but his name was called for a custom rod (923) at the end of the raffle, and he had already headed north, thus forfiting the prize; sorry John. Good job Eric, and all of the rest of the anglers of the 2007 Striper Showdown.......

Thanks guys.
I got lucky rolling a 12oz sinker down the beach Sat afternoon. The 16# Striper that I caught was the only bite I had all weekend. It was great to "get on the board", but I sure wish more fish had been caught by more guys in the competition..Conditions were kinda harsh and everyone in the tourney was really fishing hard. The tournament was awesome and the organization was outstanding.Total pro event...put on by very nice folks that had things running like a Swiss watch.Everyone associated with the Tournament that I was in contact with was friendly and totally on top of things.....from the cooks out at the grills to the guys running the wiegh in and presentation event..Super nice folks....MANY THANKS!! Outstanding event all the way around.I can't wait to fish again next year. It was great to see some AI fishin buds there.I am surprised that we didn't clean house with the talent we had...Team Evans,8nBait,Plug,Pierman,Steve Coleman. That is a buncha heavy hitters right there.

Way to go Eric! Nice to see a "local" come in.
I fished some good looking water. Conditions on Saturday were tough on fisherman but looked good for fish where I was at. Just no fish. Still a great time thanks to the people who organized and attended the event.

Nice job Erik. Must have really been fishin hard for that second fish. New you had some mojo goin on.
Grats to OBX Rookie. Jay - methinks you need to change that handle. Wonder if he had that good luck way cool killer poodle with him. Always did love that dog. Just like the cockerpoo dog I grew up with. Need a permit to fish Pea Island these days? I can't just pull up and fish anymore even with a NCSW license? Is it first come first serve? Guess I been away way too long. With that wind direction and incoming Inlet tide, current must have been ripping north side of the Inlet |
