One of my biggest beefs with the NC citation program is with say,Jack Cravalle you have to kill before the citation is given.. Jack Cravalle aren't good to eat,so what, just throw it in the dumpster??
On top of that one of the hardest fighting fish inshore (False Albacore) has no citation at all.. |

Send your suggestions to Randy Gregory at randy . gregory@ncmail.net. I believe he's the Recreational Fishing Specialist with NCDMF.
Carole Willis heads up the citation program: Carole . Y . Willis@ncmail.net NOTE: I spaces put between the periods, "." , to throw off any email harvesting programs. Cut, paste & delete spaces in the addy. |

Somebody must have been listing to ya Kenny.
From a NCDMF press release I just got: Only release citations will be offered for barracuda, jack crevalle, sailfish, tarpon and white marlin. The release size will be 45 inches for barracuda and 32 inches for jack crevalle. Citations will be awarded for the live release of sailfish, tarpon and white marlin of any size. Minimum weight requirements for landed fish will decrease for bluefish, black drum, sheepshead and triggerfish. Minimum release lengths will change for king mackerel, striped bass and bluefin tuna. Added to the citation program for 2008 are tilefish, blackfin tuna, false albacore and Atlantic bonita. Tautog was deleted from the program. These are the first major changes to Saltwater Fishing Tournament requirements in several years. They were initiated by at the request of several anglers. |
