Great week - Thanksgiving
|
Last week I fished in the Atlantic Beach/Morehead NC area for the first time. Early in the week we went out on a charter for inshore - Albies, Trout and/or Redfish with Tom Roller of WaterDog Guide Service. He did an excellent job putting us on Albies for most of the day. The group consisted of myself, my 15 and 12 year old sons. The first time on a charter trip for the little guy. Not an issue what-so-ever. The albies were so thick and Capt. Tom did such a great job that the casting was very limited. We did not count the fish but it was almost non-stop action. Capt. Tom was very knowledgeable and very helpful. We fished the beach the rest of the week. The surf fishing was not as limited as I heard it may be. We found trout and small blues at Fort Macon most times we tried. We tried to hit Shackleford but got blown out for making the trip. If I had to do it again I would have made sure to get to Shackleford earlier in the week. We found small bluefish blitzing the beach on a couple evenings and the boys had a great time with that. We also managed one albie from the beach. It was a great trip. The area is very clean and the people are very nice. We will definately do it again. Since we never got a Red it gives us something to shoot for. Found much help searching this site. Capt. Gordon suggested the guide, good choice. THANKS!
