Default Sat 11/24 CBBT Report

Fished saturday with my dad around the CBBT, started out trying to wireline (for the first time) the high rise pillings looking for some big stripers, but no luck only lots of lost tackle. On our way back we stopped by the fleet at the 4th island and give it a go around 1200. I still had 6 live spot hold over from a flounder trip in late october that didn't pan out, we lost one at the high rise so there were 5 left.

Set ourselves up for a drift over the rocks, missed a fish on our first drift but managed four keepers on the next half dozen short drifts including this guy first ever trophy striper, 40" and 28lbs other fish were 20, 23 and 27. Other boats were catching fish too.

Been a year of firsts for me, can't complain if I don't catch another fish all year, Tight Lines everyone.

I don't think it was very fair of me fishing with live spot like that, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to start putting those boys away come late october next year b/c they sure do do the trick this time of year.

Default Busted Trip

Sounds like a nice day stick. I need to get into that top water gig that's gotta be a blast. Maybe one of these days if we both end up fishing on the same day I could follow you out and watch the master work.

I tried to fish last friday with a bud from work. We got about 1/4 to 1/2 mile out of lessner and turned around. It was a pretty consistent spread of 3-4 footers with the occasional 5ft mixed. First time I've ever turned around after gettin out there though. If it had been me and my dad I think I would have fished, but I had a bud from work. He didn't say anything but I could tell he was getting a little nervous so we called it quits.

I don't know if anyone else saw them, but LBP bait and tackled was selling live spot this weekend. They had somewhere between 100-200 of them. They trapped them down south and brought them up for some tournament this weekend. I bought a couple but since we didn't fish I had to put them up in the pen, we'll see how long they can last in this cold water.

I can't see them selling out over this past weekend, they had 3 tanks full of them including the big VMRS one. I might try and see about getting off one day this week if I can to make a trip. Maybe wednesday or thursday.

Tight Lines Capt stick, you fishing this week/weekend?
