Default I am visiting a friend in NC on friday, where can I go for fishing for 6-8 hours?

Which beach should I hit? This is the first time I will be fishing in NC. Do I need a fishing license for a day? What bait and kind of fish are hitting down there?

And help/hints are much appreciated.

Yes, you need a licence, even for one hour. Fish the whole coast.

-License is available online...search for NCWRC, follow links.
-Where are you visiting?
--Speckled sea trout are biting small metal, mirrorlures, minnows...in the surf on good days. As well as in the creeks. That's about it, unless you have boat to get to the Albies. Some spots still around...or did they ever come? But some are being caught. Might want to just go to a pier, no license needed...they have blanket license.
--Stripers have started showing up out of Oregon Inlet...but you would need to charter or have boat.
--Don't know much about the old drum and bluefish north of Cape Lookout...don't fish there.

I had planned to head offshore tomorrow, but have no report, so don't want to burn the fuel for a scouting mission...so I'll take the small boat to Cape Lookout instead for trout. Good Luck!

Monday or tuesday of last week, stripers were caught at avalon pier. The bluefish and speckled trout fishing is exceptional right now. Puppy drum are plentiful as well.

Where are you going to be???

I don't know the area, I am just going to head to anywhere that might have a pier so I don't have to buy a lic. Any suggestion?

John M, it's only 2 inches on the map, if I zoom out it's less. shouldn't take any time at all. The farther out the zoom the closer they are.

yeah, you might want to mapquest it before you decide that you want to make that drive for only one day of fishing (or hours if you are driving that much).....
