Default Bogue Inlet 10/20-21

The action on Saturday was puppy drum with 15 landed that were between 26 and 32 inches. Also in the mix were some large bluefish in the 5 to 8 lb range, along wit lots of smaller ones as well. The bite was consistent but not fast and furious.

On Sunday I caught about a 30 inch puppy drum on the second cast and a 5 lb bluefish on the third and then nothing for the rest of the day. The bait in the water was scarce and I only witnessed one other puppy drum caught. My friend Sandy thought he'd hooked a huge drum that ended up being a 3' ray.

Sounds like a perfect weekend. Were you fishing bait?

Yep, as there was some finger mullet to be had, if you knew where to look....... The drum tended to be hitting more on the cut bait rather than on lures. I was taking a finger mullet and cutting it in half and using the head first, and when I ran out of heads then I used the tail section (minus the tail fin). Using the heads cut down on the number of Bluefish caught when the target species was Drum. Wish that we'd get some of the big ones down this way. Funny how just across the inlet on Bear Island, they get them over there, but for some reason, they don't seem to wander eastward.

Check your PMs, and look forward to seeing you in couple of weeks.
