About three hours worth here. For some reason they were really covered up good last night. Nothing but eyes and a little bit of their back outta the sand...very hard to see...but I managed these five after spooking another four or five before figuring out they were literally covered up and started paying more attention. Gigged one just as he spooked, hit him in the back and he pulled off in the struggle....got him later though as he thought he could sneak back up on the flat....see the one in the middle with the gig marks in his back, but another set of marks in the back of his head...the one's on his back is where I got a bad hit when he bolted the first time. The key is to hit him hard just at the rear edge of the gills...drive him into the dirt...this will stun him enough to take the fight out of him, then lift him into the cooler (never have to touch him) before he gets his **** back together.
I'm banking my freezer up for my buddy in New London...I guess you guys are paying a premium up there for flounder at the market![]() Should also mentiont he one on the right...hit in the middle of the back. Got him on the run .Last edited by EricF : 10-08-2007 at 10:09 PM. Reason: . |

Great job Eric. That sounds like a lot of fun. I showed this to Matt and he loved it. Had to explain to him what a gig is.

Hey man!! Tell Matt I got the pics. Went up to Norman's a couple weeks ago and he had one propped up on the TV table in his den. He also gave me about thirty pounds of tuna steaks that he caught the night before. I have a trip planned for Monday back out to the Big Rock for wahoo and sailfish...just myself and Craig, so we have to round us up some 'reelers'... Tell Matt I said hi, and I'll try to catch some fish so I can post some more pics. And also, you folks are welcome on the boat anytime you visit as long as I have it here.

Glad to hear you and Norman got the pics. We were wondering about it. I'll tell Matt you said hi. He's staying over night at a friends house. We haven't fished much lately. The kids are keeping me pretty busy. Matt had soccer last night and football tonight. The weather is getting cooler and it's bow season so we probably won't fish for a while. He still likes to talk about the trip. He had a great time. If we come down next summer and the boat is still there we would love to go again. Hope you get some fish Monday. Matt likes to look at the pictures.
