Hello all. I am heading down to Corolla this weekend for vacation. My last post regarding what is running this time of year for surf fishermen came back w/ drum and sharks. What species of shark can be caught now from shore? What are the best techniques to catch them and also for the drum? Any tips or advice greatly appreciated.

I flew down here on Saturday night. Caught a few cocktail blues Sunday. I beached a huge red drum this morning on the last of the incoming. I used a 1.5 oz stingsilver jig amongst the thick bunker schools. I wish I had pix; this thing was a steamer, guessing about 40" TL. 1st and largest drum in my life.
I landed a few cocktail blues too. Saw some guys catching spot/croakers. Saw so many dolphins up close smshing the bunker. THe schools are out of casting reach most of the day, but the blus & porpoises bring them in close sometimes. However, I am basically swimming with the fishes to reach them. Good luck! |
