Hi guys,
Sorry to bother you all again - I'm the retired navy captain taking my kids and my fiance's kids to Duck next week - are there opportunities for flounder from the surf in the early morning? tide recommendations? where in the surf assuming just beyond the breaking waves - and recommendations for rigs and bait - would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks, Jim Burans be glad to host any of you on my boat sometime in the fall in the annapolis md area |

ok first the disclaimers
![]() 1) i haven't fished at duck for a loooonnnggg time 2) i don't fish for flounder in the surf 3) the only flounder i have caught from the surf has been bycatch ok that said ; if i was to fish for flounder from the surf (anywhere) , if i was 'deadsticking' i'd use a bottom rig . the twisted wire thingie with 2 stand-offs for hooks . baited with either a strip of squid , small piece of shrimp or a small piece of cut bait . non dead sticking .. a small smiling bill jig head with a squid strip fished / bounced along the bottom on a slow retrieve or if you can get some small finger mullet with a cast net . one rigged on a a hook with a leader of about 12 inches tied to a 3 way swivel and enough weight to just keep it (the weight ) on the bottom with a slow retrieve .. hope this helps ![]() derf
