Default ? Ocean Isle ?

I am heading down to Ocean Isle next week.

Can anyone offer me anything on the fishing scene?

I am imagining the shore scene is pretty slow with the occasional run of small bluefish or spanish mackerel. Am I right?

Are there any large headboats / party boats that fish out of that area or is it all just six pack type charters?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Stroth,

Glad to see someone else visits "my" little island. My wife has been going there since she was a little girl and we've been going together since the early nineties. We recently switched to Hatteras Island (Frisco) and I'm hooked on the location. We've been 2x in the last 9 months. Obviously the fishing is much better and it's also a few hours closer to home.

The scene is pretty quiet as expected. I have caught whiting and some blues and heard about some pompano being caught as well. I hear that the offshore fishing is much better. I beleive you can catch a charter at the base of the bridge on the island side. You might also want to check out down around the very north end of MB for charters as well. I know there are some marinas off of 17 driving towards MB from OIB.

Good luck and enjoy!

Tom
