Default Luxor/Crack?

I'm toying with picking up one of these to play with. However when looking on the auction site to get an idea of prices, there seems to be a lot of models. I'm pretty sure the Crack 300 (the VS predecessor, please correct me if I'm wrong) is the one I'm looking for, but what was the Luxor version of this reel? Thanks for the help.

The biggest Luxor was also called the 300.

The original was the Luxor. That reel case is grayish. The company changed hands (I think) and the next 300 was a Crack. The reel case is green. I also believe that there may have been some modification of gears.
The main difference between the Luxor and the Crack is that the Luxors are older.

The problem for me is, I guess...most sellers don't even know what they have and only know it's a Luxor. Are there specific dimensions I should ask for measurements?

As far as I know Luxor-Mer is the reel and the size. Mer is french for ocean or sea. I don't know what the designations were for the smaller reels. I believe crack had two smaller sizes. I had the next size down and if I had to venture a guess it was the 200

On the Luxor on the reel casing the big one says Luxor to the left in smaller letters saumon to the right of the Luxor it says mer I assume saumon is french for salmon

On the paperwork it has an N with a degree symbol and 3 which I guess is their version of number three.

For what it's worth I scanned the picture from the user manual that came with the reel.

Also Crack, the 300 is about the size of a 706 in line capacity and a little heavier.

NUTLY the Luxors and Cracks came from the same company. You can tell the large surf models ,MER or 300, by the the zig zag neck. The Crack 300 are more available and like the Luxors built like tanks .They weight 28oz and if married to a 11 1/2' honey lami ,after a full session of pencil popping, you can throw away your dumbells. You can call Morty at *************** in N.Y . He repairs and uses Cracks with a full line of replacement parts 516 8979378. Good Luck
