Default I need some help for my little guys.

I have a couple of little guys that are starting to get into fishing (I can't be more thrilled about this).

We fish local ponds and they really like it. The older one is very excited about our upcoming Vacation to the Kitty Hawk area the week of july 14th. He wants to catch an "ocean fish".

I fish the surf in the northeast so I do have gear and experience but I think anything that takes a far cast is not an option for them but I am interested
pampano.

How do we catch them? I undersand sand fleas work well? how far out in the water should I cast? Should I look for structure of just anywhere? What kind of rig works?

I want this to be fun and sucssesful for them. So any help would be great.

thanks
Mako

get a 'pompano rig' from one of the local tackle shops sand fleas work fine;
they can be caught right in the wash .

get some bloods or squid and teeny tiny double hook rigs and fish the soundside. there should be an inexhaustible supply of pinfish and things every cast.

i'm not sure of any access points, but I'm sure you can find them.

Like steve coleman said get some blood worms and small hooks on a standard bottom rig and go to the public boat ramp across from Piratescove.There is a nice pier and bathroom and it is FREE. I take my nephews there and we catch a mix bag of fish and that is all that matters to little guys. We usually stop fishing around 4:00 pm and watch the chaterboats come in at Piratescove and they really like seeing all the big fish.Hope this helps!!! RFR.
