Default Fishing Atlantic beach area Emerald Isle Help

I am going to be in this area (Cherry point USMC base) and will be fishing at least 1 full day around Ft. Macon. Can anyone give me some Ideas and places to try. If I hook up with my buddy I will be fishing from a boat, if not I will probably fish from Ft. Macon. I have fished this area for the last 3 years, usinf speck rigs and shrimp and have caught some little fish but I would like to catch some blues if possible. Thanks for the help!

Ft Macon is a good spot. Go as early as you can in the am and be prepared for spanish mackerel with a 1 1/4 oz Stingsilver. Then when that dries up or if it doesn't happen fish 1/2 oz jigheads with Gulp tails on them for grey trout on the inlet side. Using shrimp all you will get are those little things. If you have a cast net and a 5 gallon bucket, check out the 20th st bridge in Morehead City before you head over and try to fill up with some mullet. keep them alive with one of those aerator things and fish on a Carolina Rig with a 2/0 hook. heavy to carry out to the jetty but the best thing going if you want to catch some flounder. Good luck.
