Hi - I'm a recently retired navy captain going to spend a week in Duck with a bunch of teenage boys my kids and my hopefully wife to be's kids - do a lot of surfacasting in RI for stripers and fishing in and around annapolis on my boat - what types of fish are available this time of year and what kind of rigs/bait/lures do you recommend - assume bottom rigs will come up with something for fun anyway - any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

most of Duck has a really nice beach for fishing. Should find kingfish (sea mullet, whiting), croakers, spots, bluefish. Shrimp and sand fleas are a good for bait. Two hook bottom rigs with ligh wts should be fine.

Yep what bh said. We go every year the last 2 weeks befoer school starts and stay in Kill Devil Hills. Just take a rod and double bottom rig down to the beach and scoop up a couple of sandfleas and you'll have a ball.
