Anybody have good advice on flyfishing/surfcasting the northern OBX in late May? Not looking to burn spots, just some good first-hand advice. I'll be hosting some Montana relatives for a week, so the pressure is on to pay back the in-laws for some fine trips to Yellowstone country. That's a tall order....
I'd love to get into some trout or puppy drum without hiring a guide for $600, but goofing off for snapper blues would probably be enough to keep people happy. Thanks, Kent |

I have gone many times in May and for the most part you should have no trouble finding and catching many types of fish. With that said I have been down in May and the air and water temps were so low that far north we did nothing but soak bait and throw to empty water. Try this link and keep an eye on the radar water temps for the area you want and that will give you a good idea.

Thanks....A plan is starting to take shape. Truth is,I think we'd be happy just to goof off with snapper blues on 6-wt flyrods, so maybe I'll just bring a bunch of tackle along and keep an open mind.....
See you on the beach......Kent |

We will also be in the Hatteras area in late May. What is surfcasting like in the Pamlico Sound? Was thinking of staying at a place on the Sound to fish from the backyard. What is likely to be around?
Thank you in advance for your advice, Matt |
