Default Oregon Inlet - stripers

I am thinking about fishing Oregon Inlet after Thanksgiving but it is a 7 hour drive. I would hate to go there and not catch any.

Is there a website that tells you where they are catching the stripers so you can follow them down the coast?

What is the typical temperature of the water when they are catching them (between 55 and 60)?

Thanks

p.s. Went fishing last week in Charleston area and caught 12 of them. We tried Winyah bay and caught a some trout and red drum (biggest 15 lbs). That was our first shot at it so we were pretty happy. I need to try that again!

Check out Reellbuzz. on the Charters and they will tell you.Usally aroud Turkey day they show up on the Shoals.
Fishing from the beach is hit or miss. But the Charters get them good.

There are alot of websites for the area,do search for outer banks fishing.
I fish there around end nov.-dec.,it is good down at bridge area, but it is mostly boat fishing.(Have lost big bass in surf due to fish rolling in waves)
Try beach bum charters,he will put you on fish,or oregon inlet fishing center

Fished the area around O-I for 15 years straight. I would trade your 7 hour trip for our 12-13 hour trip. The week after thanksgiving is when we go. Some years the fish are there some years their not. 2 years ago we caught about 20 keepers last year we caught 3. Check out O-I website on the fishing reports. The first cows were caught there yesterday. That is a great sign for them to be there this early. I can barely type I am getting so excited. Man I want to be there RIGHT NOW!!!

the first fish are showing up now......which is about right on schedule. If you want to really catch fish I would wait a bit....it wont settle into a good pattern for a bit. It could get consitent ealry but generally it takes a few weeks to get the numbers of fish up. Ill be there over thanksgiving, mid decemeber and new years........
