Smile Hatteras surf

My family is planning to take a few days in December to go stripper fishing at Hatteras. Can someone give me ideas on bait to use, live, cut or artificial. Do not know much about striper fishing. Heard they were running around the end of Nov. to mid Dec. Please help all information is appreciated.

Default My .02

Big baits = big fish. I use 5/0 and up with the cut bait.
I have never got a big fish on an plug or artificial on the north carolina shores.
Will be trying Fish Bites for first tiime next week will let you know.
The tackle shops in Buxton, Avon and Hatters village are the BEST,you will get the upto the minut. info from them without the BS.

True indeed especially @ the point...
BTW, keep your eyes open on the backside for bait, sometimes that time of year they're still around...
good luck and post some pics...

If you want a cow, I'd recommend a bunker haed on a fishfinder fig. Try a 8/0 to 10/0 hook, circle or J - depending on your prefrence.

December is the best month for the striped ones on the Outer Banks.

I'll be down the first week in December fishing the Wheels Reels tourney. Maybe I'll bump into ya.

Default Just dont count,

On them being within reach of the beach. Most of the time they are out on the shoals but could blitz the beach at any given minute.
