Default Fishing cast

What cast do most people use when surf fishing? I heard that the pendulum was dangerous to use on the beach. I was thinking maybe the Hatteras cast would be the best but not sure the proper way to do it. Not sure if you swing it straight back or to the 2 o'clock position if say the spot your trying to get to is in the 6 o'clock.

some people swing straight back , some go for the 2 o'clock ; it depends on how you cast ...
me , i get more distance with the 2 o'clock . but i get a lot of hook ....
straight back = straight out for me ..
so if i'm looking to place a bait in a certain 'spot' it's straight back
a 'general area' it's the 2 o'clock ...

the best thing to do is spend some time on a field and practice...
having more than one cast in your bag of tricks is the best piece of equipement you can have

I cast it so it goes out real far. Never thought 'bout what it was called. Just learned as a kid don't hit no one, and if you hook yourself don't pull the crap out!
