Default Just got back from Duck

Just got back from the annual trip to Duck. Did the typical fishing pier and bay fishing with okay results. No problem finding pinfish, spot, croaker and flounder. Lots of blueclaw crabs too.

But this year I rented a sea kayak. That was the best $95 I've spent in a long time. Got me out to the dolphins and menhaden. Caught a lot of bluefish off the kayak, but none bigger than 3lbs. When the baitfish come through and you're in the middle of the action, it's crazy.

Question Sounds cool, was thinking of renting one in Oct.....

If you don't mind, who did you rent from, and do they deliver to your place?

Thanks,

Wes...

Default Ocean Atlantic

There are a lot of places down there, but I got it here...

oar-nc*com
They deliver, but it's a few $ more. I also went to Walmart to get a lock so I didn't have to drag the kayak home every day.

please do not post links

Where were you leaving it, not at the water you fished Although a lock sounds like a good thought to take, I guess a cable and lock would work?

Never been in a Yak before See available the Scrambler, and Malibu... wondering which would be better suited for someone over 6'? See they come with PFD's, "doesn't mention paddles" Guess they get ya on the back rests, seems they would be almost "need to have". Free delivery over $95...

Wes

Default Malibu Two

Actually it was a Malubu Two that I rented, and I didn't have the back rest, but it would have been nice.

I locked it to the walkway steps coming down to the beach. Seems to a common thing to do.

I stay south of Buxton in Hatteras Village and lock my yak to the walkway over the dunes as well. Just got back yesterday. Sure some bolt cutters could cut the cable in a minute but If you've been there you'll realize no one is there to rip you off.

Most people around us left their beach chairs loose at the steps as well. No problem

Fishin the point one year and had a 6 pack of Yogart in a bag in my cooler which got ripped off while I was fishin the bar. I can imagine the surprise when they opened it thinking it was beer. Hope at least they ate it.
