Cool Frisco and south Info

Well the spring is coming and I need a fishing fix.
I will be spending a week on the Banks and not at the Point and the Avon beaches I am going to try Frisco and south this time.
I have a couple of questions on places to eat,Bait and tackle, access to the sound and where are the jetties that they talk about in there fishing reports.
John ,Kenny,Derf, is it worth an overnight trip to Oakacoke to fish the south side. and is there anyhting or place you can recomend.

CB, Frisco is just south of Buxton. Access to the beach is at the campground. If NPS doesn't close to much of the beach, you can drive to all the beach to the point, it's not crowded there. If you are lucky the NPS will have cut a new spur road to the sound from the Pole road at Hatteras Spit. Fishin down at false point and ramp55 is good in the summer. Surf is not as high as the point north through Avon up to Rodanthe. The southern end(where you are staying) has alot more Pompino & Spanish. The jetties are at the lighthouse in Buxton. They were put in the protect the beach in front of the lighthouse. They moved the lighthouse inland 1000+feet, so go the the old lighthouse parking lot & walk 100yrds to the jetties. You cannot drive up to them. Frisco Rod & Gun is right across the street from the entrance to the campground & beach access in Frisco. The Quaterdeck Restrant if Frisco is very good, & there are lots of places in Hatteras Village.

Fish have been caught at False Point (some pretty beach and some nice spots),S and N ends of Ocock,as well as the Point, take your pick... Tackle shops: Frisco Rod and Gun The Roost are south, and close to where you are staying.. If you drive north ,Dillon's,Red Drum Tackle, and Frank and Frans.. Eating: Bouys in Buxton,Pop's Rawbar,Diamond Shoals beside RDT.. From where you are staying though,The Quarterdeck is the best bang for the buck, and has some excellent fresh seafood as well (as Longcaster suggested).. For a pizza,Gingerbread house can be walked to from where you are staying... For the jettys, just turn left off 12 like you are headed to the Lighthouse, the parking lot to the jettys is on your left, just a quick walk over the dunes.. Make sure that the tackle you can't bring with you is locked away in your truck and not out in the open, cause it isn't like it used to be down here... Just look me up when ya get here,I think you'll know where to find me....

Longcaster thanks for your input,I have spent 2 weeks a year on the banks for a number of years and as stated have always yieded to the call of the point, so Buxton was the stoping point when on the OBX. I have spent more time on Portsmith and Cape Lookout, but with out The gang I usualy fish with the that can be daunting.
I will be driving a new F150 Pick up Bright Red with ARE top. If you are at any of the beaches stop when you see the Cigar smoke and an Old giesser with a dump hat on and Pa plates and have a brew.
If you would like to set up a date PM me and I will give you my cell#.

Kenny I know we will run into each other, but I did not want to put you on the spot directly. I know the toads are in along with sea mullet and specs. Drum will depend on the wind and water temps.
I would like to know if there is access to the sound for some bait hunting (I do like to fish with finger mullet). The last thing I need to know if I go to Ocacoke can I sleep in the truck on the beach overnight?

For food dont pass Orange Bloosom. I got a CRab cake samich and almost couldn't finish it. Very reasonably priced food and they don't skimp a bit on the quality.

You can't legally sleep in the truck on the beach there. I know a few of the campers were reminded of this last weekend by the ranger.
