Cold is an understatement. I just got back from a long weekend in Buxton and it was a lot warmer in November and December.

Default Burr

If the winds come in from the South in the next couple of days that will change quickly, and it is suppose to. according to the weather reports I think drum will be caught at the secert spot later this week.

Well folks, I made the long trip and have to say it was slow, although the reports from the boats said they had done good from the inlet the fishing on the beach was slow. I was one of the lucky ones 46 ½ , out of 100+ dedicated fisherman only 3 fish were landed that I know of. Lots of critters and sand sharks to keep you busy, the temps were just a tad low at times but for the most part conditions were drummie, someone just forgot to tell the drum.

Fished down yonder from Friday thru Sunday…OBX Rookie has it right…SLOW! The wind was perfect—s/sw—but the water was a little cool at 58 degrees…saw and spoke w/ a lot of regulars…The Evans boys were there since mid week and had not seen or heard of a single Drum landed… I heard of 2 caught Saturday morning and there was a good turn-out of fishers… Sunday morning it was still slow…

This trip for me got off to a bad start… I had Striper fished around OC Maryland until Wednesday last week and went home to Virginia Thursday morning… That night I started packing up for the trip south and discovered that I had left all my Drum rods at the beach house … Had to drive back to OC Friday morning before going south…a 170 mile diversion … That was an omen I guess to what the weekend would be like…

Cannot always catch fish…

How was the Plover closure boundary? Sounds like there was plenty of room to fish for that many people to have been there.

Default Closed areas...

I did not fish Cape Point... I read or heard there was or was going to be a closure there, but don't have first hand knowledge...

I fished the other place... There was an extensive roped off area, but from the water back to the closed area there was plenty of room all the way down and around to the inlet side...no problem...

Spoke w/ the bird people (NPS) and they said its too early for a full closure, but things could change though... I am planning to go back down again mid week, pending conditions...

Default Sorry to hear the fish aren't biting....

but I've been so busy getting ready for the move that I can't even begin to think about fishing. The good news is that after the move, I'll have more time to fish, the bad news is that it won't be until fall that I will be able to do any fishing of a serious nature. I'll keep reading the comments and living vicariously through your experiences.
