Question Flashlights?

My Pelican flashlight with a xenon bulb died this past winter. I went to a local camping store to pickup a new one for using in crowds and check lines. All they seemed to be selling were LED's. No high powered xenons. I have an LED headlamp which is nice for task lighting, but it doesn't really through a beam out there at any usable distance. The store did have some newer type LEDs with special reflectors that supposedly had ranges of 200 to 300 feet. Does anyone have any experience with them?

A couple of guys I ran into down on the point had the new LED Pelicans and said the were much brighter than the older models but a bulb is a lot cheaper. Can't you just mail order from Pelicon online?

I would contact pelican. They can send yuo the part you need or you can send the whole thing to them and they will fix it. Ive sent 1 light back and had them send parts to me in the past. Pelicans arnt cheap, but the company stand behind them.

Thanks guys. The bulb and reflector appear to be only one piece, but I'll give them a shout and see what they can do. The light is only two or three years old.

DD is right on Surefires are bright, with the Nitrolon series ya can get either 65 Lumen or a 120 Lumen bulb assy. The 120 is used as a weapon, it will blind someone for a few seconds. But it will go through batteries quick, like 1 hour. The 65 will last 2 hours. Gerat lights. They make flip up filters so ya can have red light so ya can see in the dark, and when ya need to see alot flip the filter up = blinded.

Someone I knew in the Coast Guard showed me one of those tactical lights. The amount of lights it put out was amazing, but it was $100. These seem to be more in the price range of the Pelicans. Do you use the optional rechargable batteries?

Rechargeable Surefire, not yet that is pricey. I think only a few will take the rechargable bat. I use it at the truck, & out in the surf a Pelican.

Ya after I looked around on the web a bit, I saw that the recharging kit was almost a $100. I ended up just ordering a replacement lamp/lense for the Perlican and also picked up a Surefire. Thanks for the advice.
