Question

I'm heading down to OBX next weekend (1/28) for the first time with a buddy to hit the sand for some cabin fever relief. Where is our best shot for some pullage?

I've been checking out the various boards and it seems as its been spotty. We're willing to drive from anywhere between corolla and hatteras.

We're goina target stripers, but would definitely like to hit some trout, drum or flounder or whatever else is hittin. Sounds like best plan is to just cruise the beach looking for working birds? Any other info is appreciated (I looked at the posts below, so I got all that newbie info).

We caught some really nice striper just cruising from Oregon Inlet to Hatteras Island hitting every open ramp, reading the water and watching bird activity. You can't really pinpoint any location or get a feel from the tackle shops. Heck, we were told in Buxton we wasted a trip down. They said they hadn't caught or seen a striper in 10 days and were packing it in. Get the freshest menhaden you can find and fish like it's your last trip! If nothing else enjoy the sunrises and sunsets with a good friend and a rod in hand.

I have had a consistant bite at OI. Look hard for a small rip by the bridge. North side is a good starting point. There is also some great current breaks on the sound side.
