where are you gonna shark fish? What piers? Jennettes is the only one I know of that formally allows it but they blew down a couple years ago and haven't been rebuilt yet. I would like to know because I have a setup for that.

What jellybear said. I used to do it back in the day, but those days are long gone. I've been looking at getting back into it and have researched a couple ideas that may help. They both involve doing it from the beach. The first one is using a kite rig to get your bait out there. The only downfall is that the wind would have to blow out of the west. The second would be to use a kayak to get your bait out. You may also be able to use a bouy and drop rig with a westerly wind and outgoing tide to drift your bait out. Do a google search for "kite surf fishing". There's a great site, I believe out of australia or new zeland. It shows you the types of setups, how to rig, ect... They have some pretty impressive pics of monsters caught from the beach. Hope this helps.
