Planning to hit the beach with my 4WD this fall. Is there a list of required and/or suggested gear to drive the Outer Banks Beaches?
Can't wait...fish, eat ,sleep...fish, eat sleep....yeah man! TF |

From my experience over the years i always have a few basic things i take with me out on the beach in my 4x4.First is a tire pressure gauge.Because in my opinion that pressure needs to be dropped first thing.Second is a Small 12 volt air compressor. In case you have to let them way down,if it becomes super soft. And it does at times. That way you can air right back up after you come off the beach to make for safe highway driving.Third i have a small fox hole shovel that i stick behind the seat.Fourth i have to 3 foot sections of 2x6 board to wedge under the tires, and last but not least a long snatch strap or rope. Those are the basic things i take and will get you out of "most" sand driving situations.Am sure others here have different ideas. But thats what i use Hope this helps Cya Ron p.s Also a Fresh Flashlight p.p.s A high Lift Jack is not a bad idea either |

The best piece of advice I can give is air down before you drive on the sand, after you get stuck it's typically to late.
If you start to get stuck don't try to power your way through the sand, you will loose. Stop backup and take and different track. Happy fishing hatterasrentalcottage.com |
