Have any of you fished the surf in both places? Could you compare them on any issue that comes to mind?

For example, is driving the beach much different? Do they differ in the amount of accessible and productive beaches? Again, feel free to share anything that comes to mind.

having driven and fished both a bit.

They are similar. Nauset is a bit more powder, especailly the back road.

fish wise on the cape its bass bass bass.....on the OBX its drum, cobia, spanish, albies, bass depending on the itme of year. Water is warmer down south too. Gear wise its different in that you need to throw 6 or 8 on the OBX for th ebigger fish mentioned abouve. For the smaller fish like mullet and such small rods are fine. Allot more plugging and eeling up on the cape as well. mostly bait on the OBX. though there are fish to be had on plug, jigs etc on the box if you put in the time and know where to go.

for me i prefer the obx, for the sheer variety of fish avialble through the year.

Thanks, John. That is the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

I have scrolled through some early ('01) posts in this OBX forum and have noticed your enjoyment of the OBX.

Good fishing to ya.

If you are referring to ORV access, I know what you mean.

I experienced all of those issues on Cape Cod in the '80s when the NPS closed Wood End and most of the back beach. Really stinks to see all the closure goings-on at the OBX right now.

bug I understand.......all the fish I mentioned are readily avaiable in the surf........about half your list you have no shot unless you have a boat. dotn get me wrong I love the cape, but I prefer the variety I get down south.
