Piney,
Did you head down yet? I'll be there 8/27 thru 9/3. I've stayed in Hatteras for 10 years and this year we're in Avon. I don't know the are that well. How ere the beaches? Flat or were there some holes and troughs? If you found any holes sound side let me know. I'll be back there with my kayak as well. Thanks

I have been going to S Nags Head,Salvo & Hatteras in past years. In Salvo we took little boat for sound fishing, the only time there where fish was early morning & late evening along banks.
I have been using google earth for fishing spots & it seems to work. The maps show the deep spots near banks & that is what works for me in NJ bays. This time of year I normally catch blues, croakers & sharks off of beach. Red Chevey Blazer NJ tags with black hitch haul rig,big white beard |

You can probably launch at the Canadian Hole, in between Avon and Buxton.
