I'm curious to see the answer myself. I've lived in N.C. about two years now and don't know the answer myself. I think stripers are a December/January thing.

I really don't know much about flyfishing and I have seen very little of that in the NC Surf. If you are boatfishing, any of the months you chose would work, you would just have to find the fish. If you want surf only and you didn't mention Drum, I would pick December when you have the best possibility for Stripers, Trout, and Blues. If you want Drum, choose November.

That's an interesting desecration of a religious symbol.

Derf the fish is a symbol of christ.

I dont however think this is in anyway out of line.

Late Nov. is a better time for for stripers in the surf on fly. I have clients who fish at night around Thanksgiving in and around Oregon INlet and seem to do well. You can also fish Manns Harbor bridge from the bank and do really well at dawn and dusk that time of year. Can not say first hand i am in Cape Lookout for Oct. and NOv. albie fishing.

You can target albies at Cape Lookout from the beach in mid Oct to Late Nov. You have to get a ferry from Harkers Island ($10.00) and they will take you to the hook--earlier in Oct--good shot at spanish and blues.

Decent speck run on the beach Oct. and Nov. up in Kitty HAwk and Southern Shores--access can be a problem and so can the crowds--have done well years back with flies.

Been vacationing down there with the family for 12 years now. Surf fishing from late June thru October generally sucks. You may get a big drum on the point but otherwise drink beer.

I catch a few small blues, pompano, or fluke early in the morning in the suds. Trout in the back. Then I play with the kids in the water all day and keep the wife happy. Same routine every day

Now I have made a few serious trips down there with the boys and there a re some big fish around.

Best fishing is Nov/Dec/Jan for stripers and May/June for cobia. We did well on a trip out of OI for Bluefin in May once as well.

Good luck.
