Hey does anyone here head to South Core banks and if so, where is a good place to get my line wet besides in the ocean, the last time I was there, that is all I did was get my line wet with no results, I was fishing just north of the Lighthouse. Also, I bought some of that frozen bait like squid and shrimp at Wally World and was wondering if that was the problem. I am heading down for the weekend after the 4th of July and would love to hook a sand shark or anything else for that matter. I am also considering taking a yak along so suggestions for sound fishing is also welcome. Thanks in advance for replies

I can't help with the yak,but for sharks out front at night. Ditch the squid and get some fresh mullet. Save the carkess from the days endevior and go for the gusto.
Try down on the sound side going west of the south point toward the jettey but where you still have light wave action. ![]()

The Ocean side of Cape Lookout north of the lighthouse is an excellent place to fish in September and October. In the middle of the summer its best to use small tackle with fresh shrimp, bloodworms, sand fleas, and cutbait and be happy catching lots Pompano and Sea Mullet.

I was wondering about that bait when I bought it and thought that I should buy fresh bait. I am kinda new at ocean fishing but not fresh water and I am not afraid to try anything.
